No Pay: Female Actress - Peggy Flynn, The Trials of Frankle Flynn

A strong traditional Dublin woman who puts up with her husband Frank’s exploits with humour and exasperation but gives as good - if not better - than she gets in an argument. A matriarch who lets her husband think he’s running things. Ability to do a Dublin or General Southern Irish accent

The Trials of Frankie Flynn written by Peter Hammond and directed by Katherine Reilly

London Irish Theatre is casting the first play of it’s 2010 summer season which kicks off with ‘The Trials of Frankie Flynn’, the humourous tales of a close knit seemingly traditional Dublin family. Frankie bumbles his way through life kept in check by his exasperated wife Peggy and his daughters, long-suffering housewife Angela and modern, sophisticated Marian.

Following last season’s ‘Six of the Best’, in which we produced six new plays in six weeks, The London Irish Theatre won the Fringe award for Best New Company. We are a company which remains committed to a collaborative ethos, quality productions of new writing and we are always eager to bring new talent on-board.

Please send cv’s and headshots to London Irish Theatre (scripts available on request)

NB: The title role of Frankie Flynn is already cast

No Pay: Female Actress - Miss Cornelia Scott/Dot, Something Unspoken/Porch

Actress, white, aged 50-65 for the roles of Miss Cornelia Scott and Dot.

Cornelia is in her 60’s and a wealthy and demanding spinster with a strong Southern accent.

Dot is in her 70’s, aging and nagging mother of Lucille. She has a strong Texan accent.

Two actresses are required for both pieces. Auditions are 14th and 15th of June, with rehearsals from the 24th of June. The showcase is on the 19th of July.

Something Unspoken is a rare piece of Tennessee Williams, written in 1953. It will be set in the 1950’s near New Orleans, Louisiana

Miss Cornelia Scott is a 60 year-old grand dame and wealthy spinster. On this day, she is running for the highest position in one of the Meridian chapters of the Confederate Daughters, but has decided not to go the event. As a result, Cornelia is updated intermitently by another member over the phone, as the election unfolds.

In the meantime, her timid secretary of many years Grace, in her 40’s, seems to be hiding a secret, something that may have happened between the two of them years ago, but never spoken about. There is increasing tension and anticipation with the election and revelations are made in an explosive confrontation.

Porch was written in 1978 by the Texan playwright, Jack Heifner. It is often performed with a sister-piece, Patio.

Dot, a woman in her 70’s sits on a delapidated porch in her wheel chair on a hot summer’s day in a small Texas town, with her daughter Lucille, who is in her mid-40’s. Lucille tries to read a paper while Dot badgers her. Dot reveals her frustration with Lucille for not becoming a wordly, ambitious woman, while Lucille grown increasingly frustrated in her trapping role as her mother’s care-taker. Will Lucille ever be bold enough to leave the porch?
